Ifthemachinebecomesdisabled,youcandisengage
thedrumfromthetransmissiontoallowthemachine
tobemaneuvered.
1.Ontheright,rearcornerofthemachine,locate
thetractionengage/disengagelevernexttothe
drive-housingdrum(Figure30).

2.Carefullyrotatetheleverrearwardtodisengage
thetransmissionfromthedrum.
CAUTION
Thespring-loadedlevermaystrikeyour
handifitisnotrotatedcarefully.
Carefullyrotatethelever.
3.Movethemachineasnecessary.
Important:Ifpossible,donottowthe
machine.Iftowingthemachineisabsolutely
necessary,donottowatanyspeedgreater
than4.8kph(3mph);alwaysdisengagethe
transmissionfromthedrum.Failingtodoso
likelycausesdamagetothemachine.
4.Finishmovingthemachine,thenrotatethelever
forwardtoengagethetransmissiontothedrum.
Note:Theservicebrakeisstilloperationalwiththe
transmissiondisengagedfromthedrum.
OperatingTips
Important:Grassclippingsactasalubricant
whenmowing.Operatingthecuttingunit
excessivelywithoutgrassclippingscandamage
thecuttingunit.
•Mowthegreensinastraightback-and-forth
directionacrossthegreen.
•Avoidcircularmowingorturningthemachineon
thegreensareastopreventscufng.
•Turnthemachineoffthegreenbyraisingthe
cuttingreel(pushingthehandledown)andturning
onthetractiondrum.
•Mowatanormalwalkingpace.Fastspeedssaves
littletimeandresultsinaninferiormowingjob.
•Toassistinmaintainingastraightlineacross
thegreenandtokeepthemachineanequal
distancefromtheedgeofthepreviouscut,usethe
alignmentstripesonthebasket(Figure31).
