1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,shutoffthe
engine,removethesparkplugwire,andremove
thekeyfromtheignition.
2.Removegrassclippings,dirt,andgrimefromthe
externalpartsoftheentiremachine,especially
theengine.Cleandirtandchafffromtheoutside
oftheenginecylinderheadnsandblower
housing.
Important:Youcanwashthemachinewith
milddetergentandwater.Donotpressure
washthemachine.Avoidexcessiveuseof
water.
3.Servicetheaircleaner;refertoServicingtheAir
Cleaner(page21).
4.Changethecrankcaseoil;refertoChangingthe
Oil(page23).
5.Checkthetirepressure;refertoCheckingthe
TirePressure(page13).
6.Preparethemachineforstoragewhennon-use
occursover30days.Preparemachinefor
storageasfollows:
A.Addapetroleumbased
stabilizer/conditionertofuelinthetank.
Followmixinginstructionsfromstabilizer
manufacture.Donotuseanalcoholbased
stabilizer(ethanolormethanol).
Note:Afuelstabilizer/conditionerismost
effectivewhenmixedwithfreshfueland
usedatalltimes.
B.Runtheenginetodistributeconditionedfuel
throughthefuelsystem(5minutes).
C.Stoptheengine,allowittocool,anddrain
thefueltank;refertoServicingtheFuel
Tank(page26).
D.Starttheengineandrunituntilitstops.
E.Choketheengine.Startandruntheengine
untilitdoesnotstart.
F.Disposeoffuelproperly.Recycleaccording
tolocalcodes.
Important:Donotstorefuelcontaining
stabilizer/conditionerlongerthanthe
durationrecommendedbythefuel-stabilizer
manufacturer.
7.Removethesparkplug(s)andcheckits
condition;refertoCheckingtheSparkPlugs
(page25).Withthesparkplug(s)removedfrom
theengine,pour2tablespoonsofengineoil
intothesparkplughole.Nowusethestarterto
cranktheengineanddistributetheoilinsidethe
cylinder.Installthesparkplug(s).Donotinstall
thewireonthesparkplug(s).
8.Checkandtightenallfasteners.Repairor
replaceanypartthatisdamagedormissing.
9.Paintallscratchedorbaremetalsurfaces.Paint
isavailablefromyourAuthorizedServiceDealer.
10.Storethemachineinaclean,drygarageor
storagearea.Removethekeyfromtheignition
switchandkeepitoutofreachofchildrenor
otherunauthorizedusers.Coverthemachineto
protectitandkeepitclean.
DisposingofWaste
Engineoil,engineandremotecontrolbatteriesare
pollutantstotheenvironment.Disposeofthese
accordingtoyourstateandlocalregulations.
