ServicingtheCuttingBlades
Maintainsharpbladesthroughoutthecuttingseason
becausesharpbladescutcleanlywithouttearingor
shreddingthegrassblades.Tearingandshreddingturns
grassbrownattheedges,whichslowsgrowthand
increasesthechanceofdisease.
Checkthecutterbladesdailyforsharpness,andforany
wearordamage.Filedownanynicksandsharpenthe
bladesasnecessary.Ifabladeisdamagedorworn,
replaceitimmediatelywithagenuineTororeplacement
blade.Forconvenientsharpeningandreplacement,you
maywanttokeepextrabladesonhand.
Awornordamagedbladecanbreak,anda
pieceofthebladecouldbethrownintothe
operator’sorbystander’sarea,resultingin
seriouspersonalinjuryordeath.
Inspectthebladeperiodicallyforwearor
damage.
Replaceawornordamagedblade.
BeforeInspectingorServicingthe
Blades
Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengagetheblade
controlswitch,andmovethemotioncontrollevers
outwardtotheparkposition.Stoptheengine,remove
thekey,anddisconnectthesparkplugwire(s)fromthe
sparkplug(s).
InspectingtheBlades
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily—Checkthe
cuttingblades.
1.Inspectthecuttingedges(Figure35).Iftheedges
arenotsharporhavenicks,removeandsharpenthe
blades;refertoSharpeningtheBlades.
2.Inspecttheblades,especiallythecurvedarea
(Figure35).Ifyounoticeanydamage,wear,or
aslotforminginthisarea(item3inFigure35),
immediatelyinstallanewblade.

1.Rotatethebladesuntiltheendsfaceforwardand
backward(Figure36).Measurefromalevelsurface
tothecuttingedge,positionA,oftheblades
(Figure36).Notethisdimension.

Neverleorcreatesharpnotchesinthe
edgesorsurfacesofblade.
