Removing the Grass
Deector and Belt Cover

Procedure
W ARNING
An uncovered discharge opening could allow
the machine to throw objects toward you or
bystanders and result in serious injury . Also,
contact with the blade could occur .
Never operate the lawn mower unless you
install a mulch plate, discharge deector , or
grass-collection system.
Inspect the grass deector for damage before each
use. Replace any damaged parts before use.
1. Set the height of cut at the lowest cutting
position.
2. Disengage the spring from the notch in the
deector bracket and remove the cotter pin (CE
models only), slide the rod out of the welded
deck brackets, spring, and discharge deector
( Figure 5 ).
Note: Y our chute may look dif ferent than the
one pictured.
