1.Disengagethepowertakeoff(PTO),settheparking
brake,andturntheignitionkeytoOff.Removethe
key.
2.Removegrassclippings,dirt,andgrimefromthe
externalpartsoftheentiremachine,especiallythe
engineandhydraulicsystem.Cleandirtandchaff
fromtheoutsideoftheenginecylinderheadnsand
blowerhousing.
Important:Youcanwashthemachinewith
milddetergentandwater.Donotpressure
washthemachine.Avoidexcessiveuseof
water,especiallynearthecontrolpanel,engine,
hydraulicpumps,andmotors.
3.Checkthebrake;refertoServicingtheBrakein
BrakeMaintenance(page48).
4.Servicetheaircleaner;refertoServicingtheAir
CleanerinEngineMaintenance(page35).
5.Greasethemachine;refertoGreasingand
Lubricationin
Lubrication(page33).
6.Changethecrankcaseoil;refertoServicingthe
EngineOilinEngineMaintenance(page35).
7.Checkthetirepressure;refertoCheckingtheTire
PressureinDriveSystemMaintenance(page43).
8.Changethehydrauliclter;referto
ServicingtheHydraulicSystemin
HydraulicSystemMaintenance(page53).
9.Chargethebattery;refertoServicingtheBatteryin
ElectricalSystemMaintenance(page41).
10.Scrapeanyheavybuildupofgrassanddirtfromthe
undersideofthemower,thenwashthemowerwith
agardenhose.
Note:RunthemachinewiththePTOengaged
andtheengineathighidlefor2to5minutesafter
washing.
11.Checktheconditionoftheblades;
refertoServicingtheCuttingBladesin
MowerDeckMaintenance(page57).
12.Preparethemachineforstoragewhennon-use
occursover30days.Preparethemachineforstorage
asfollows:
A.Addapetroleumbasedstabilizer/conditioner
tofuelinthetank.Followmixinginstructions
fromthestabilizermanufacturer.Donotusean
alcoholbasedstabilizer(ethanolormethanol).
Note:Afuelstabilizer/conditionerismost
effectivewhenmixedwithfreshfuelandused
atalltimes.
B.Runtheenginetodistributeconditionedfuel
throughthefuelsystem(5minutes).
C.Stoptheengine,allowittocool,anddrainthe
fueltank;refertoServicingtheFuelTankin
FuelSystemMaintenance(page39).
D.Restarttheengineandrunituntilitstops.
E.Disposeoffuelproperly.Recycleasperlocal
codes.
Important:Donotstore
stabilizer/conditionedfuelover90days.
13.Checkandtightenallbolts,nuts,andscrews.Repair
orreplaceanypartthatisdamaged.
14.Paintallscratchedorbaremetalsurfaces.Paintis
availablefromyourAuthorizedServiceDealer.
15.Storethemachineinaclean,drygarageorstorage
area.Removethekeyfromtheignitionswitchand
keepitoutofreachofchildrenorotherunauthorized
users.Coverthemachinetoprotectitandkeepit
clean.
