■ SRS airbag precautions
● Do not strike or apply significant levels of force to the area of the SRS
airbag components.
Doing so can cause the SRS airbags to malfunction.
● Do not touch any of the component parts immediately after the SRS
airbags have deployed (inflated) as they may be hot.
● If breathing becomes difficult after the SRS airbags have deployed, open a
door or window to allow fresh air in, or leave the vehicle if it is safe to do
so. Wash off any residue as soon as possible to prevent skin irritation.
● If the areas where the SRS airbags are stored, such as the steering wheel
pad, are damaged or cracked, have them replaced by your Toyota dealer.
■ Airbag sensor assembly
The airbag sensor assembly is installed to the vehicle under the airbag sen-
sor assembly cover, which is behind the engine access hole cover. Observe
the following precautions regarding the airbag sensor assembly. Failure to
do so may cause the SRS airbags to malfunction or deploy (inflate) acci-
dentally, possibly causing death or serious injury.
● If the airbag sensor assembly cover is cracked, chipped or otherwise dam-
aged, have it replaced by your Toyota dealer. (Do not use the vehicle if the
airbag sensor assembly cover if damaged.)
● Do not attach anything to or lean any-
thing against areas such as the dash-
board or steering wheel pad.
These items can become projectiles
when the SRS driver and front passen-
ger airbags (if equipped) deploy.
● Do not kick the airbag sensor assembly
cover or subject it to strong impacts.
● Do not apply liquids to the airbag sen-
sor assembly cover or its surrounding
area.
● Do not attempt to remove the airbag
sensor assembly cover.
