■ Front impact sensor
The front impact sensor is installed to the vehicle behind the instrument
panel, near the cup holders. Observe the following precautions regarding
the front impact sensor. Failure to do so may cause the SRS airbags to mal-
function or deploy (inflate) accidentally, possibly causing death or serious
injury.
■ Modification and disposal of SRS airbag system components
Do not dispose of your vehicle or perform any of the following modifications
without consulting your Toyota dealer. The SRS airbags may malfunction or
deploy (inflate) accidentally, causing death or serious injury.
● Installation, removal, disassembly and repair of the SRS airbags
● Repairs, modifications, removal or replacement of the steering wheel,
instrument panel, dashboard or airbag sensor assembly cover
● Repairs or modifications of the front fender or front bumper
● Installation of a grille guard (bull bars, kangaroo bar, etc.), snow plows or
winches
● Modifications to the vehicle’s suspension system
● Installation of electronic devices such as mobile two-way radios (RF-trans-
mitter) and CD players
● Do not subject the area around the front
impact sensor to a strong impact.
● Do not apply liquids to area around the
front impact sensor.
