4.4.2.2 Set the Aircraft Address (ICAO 24-bit Code)
This 24-Bit unique address is assigned to an aircraft during the registration process. The code
can be obtained from either the aircraft registration certificate or the N-number inquiry page
(http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/).
1. Rotate the Rotary Knob to select Flight ID;
2. Push the Rotary Knob to enter Flight ID sub-menu;
3. Select “Add” by pushing the Rotary Knob. In the sub-menu, the following screen
appears:
IMPORTANT NOTES
1. The FID must not be confused with the 24-bit ICAO Mode-S ID (AA).
2. The FID may not contain spaces, except that the trailing characters can be blank.
3. The FID must start with the nationality code (“N” for U.S. registered aircraft).
4. If no FID is entered, then Mode-S is disabled and only Mode A/C is transmitted.
Before you can enter the 24-bit Aircraft Address (AA), the Flight ID needs to be defined.
