TESTING TO SEE IF THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A FACTORY ALARM
To test if the vehicle is equipped with a factory security system:
1. Roll down the window on the driver’s door and close all doors of the vehicle.
2. Open the driver’s door and press the door lock switch inside the driver’s door to lock the doors.
3. Close the door. You may notice the “THEFT” light on the instrument cluster stays solid for about 30 seconds
and then begins flashing.
4. Wait 5 minutes, then reach inside the driver’s door and open the driver’s door.
5. If the horn honks, the vehicle is equipped with a factory security system. If the horn does not honk, the vehicle
is not equipped with a factory security system.
TESTING THE FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE
To find the factory disarm wire with your multi-meter:
1. Set to DC voltage
2. Attach the (-) probe to chassis ground
3. Probe the wire you suspect of being the factory alarm disarm wire
4. When the switch is at rest, the meter should read 12V
5. Unlock the door with the key. The meter should read 0V or close to it. If it does, that is the correct wire.
WIRING A RELAY FOR FACTORY ALARM DISARM
Use a relay and use the remote start system’s (-) factory disarm wire to disarm the factory security system
