MILE SERVICING
valYe Rocker Clearances

Check and,
if necessary,
adjust the
iriet and
exhaust valve
clearances to 0.010"
when
cold. These settings,
which are
con€ct
for
all operating conditions,
are
obtained
as follows :-
l. Turn the
qankshaft
until No.

rod has reached
its
highest point

rotate the crankshaft

complete
revolution.

rocker, slacken the
locknut and
insert a
0.010"
feeler gauge between
the rocker and
valve stem.
Turn
the
adjuster
with a screwdriver
until slight
resistance is
felt
as the gauge
is moved
across the valve
stem

re-tighten
the locknut,
3. A.fter tightening
the locknut,
re-check the
clearance and
if
satisfactory,
deal
with the remaining
rockerc in a
similar
manner,
ensuring that each
rocker is corectly
positioned
b€fore attempting
to adjust it.
Far Belt Tension

fan belt
should be sumciendy tight
to drive the generator
without unduly
loading
the beadngs.
Adjust the
belt by slaokening
the adjusting bolt
(5)
and the
generator
pivots
(3
and
4). Pivot the generator
until the belt can
be moved

Maintaining the generator
in this position,
securely tighten the adjusting
bolt and the two

Unscrew
the
hexagon
plug
from the toP
of each
carburettor
and wjthdraw
the
Plug
and
damper
assembly.
ToP
uP the
damper chambers
with the current
grade
of engine
oil. The
oil
level is
correct
when, utilizing
the
damPer
as a
diPstick, its
threaded plug
is
t"
above
the dash-pots
when resistance
is felt.
Refit the
damper
and hexagonal
plug.
Using
an oil
can, apply
oil to the
throttle
and choke
control
linkages.
Sparking
Plugs
Remove
the sparking
plugs
for cleaning
and
re-set the gaPs
to 0.025". Clean
the
ceramic
insulato$
and
examine them
for
cracks
or other
damage
likely
to cause
"H.T."
ftacking.
Test the
plugs before
re-fitting
and
renew
those which
are suspect.
