Enabling the Response Concentration
The RESPONSE CONC option enables or disables the use of the
Response Factor within the SidePak AM520/AM520i. When the
RESPONSE CONC option is enabled an additional aerosol
measurement appears on the Survey and Logging screens. This
measurement indicates the response factor concentration with the
application of the current Calibration Factor. The Response Factor is
configured as part of the USER CAL settings.
For environments with a substance specific aerosol [e.g., respirable
silica or Diesel Particulate Matter (DPM), where these are
represented as a percentage of the total mass concentration per unit
volume of air] which is of concern the Response Concentration allows
for real-time percent (%) fraction of the substance specific
concentration. Effective use of this feature requires a gravimetric
analysis of the environment in which the SidePak AM520/AM520i is
being used. See (Appendix B) for more information on determining
the Response Factor.
