11. USING AND ADJUSTING THE FERTILIZER FEEDING
DEVICE
Overview
There is an equal number of fertilizer and seed feeding chambers on the machine. Correct dosage is
regulated by adjusting the feeding rollers sideways in relation to the feeding chamber with the hand wheel
located on the right.
The feeding chambers are located on the bottom of the hopper. This solution enables maintaining a stable
dosage of seed despite possible tilting of the machine either sideways of towards the driving direction.
Feeding rollers are plastic cylinders equipped with threaded serration. The bottom valves under the feeding
rollers are adjustable. The adjustment lever is in the middle of the machine front end. The entire feeding is
made of non-corrosive materials.
All types of granular fertilizers can be fed through the fertilizer hopper. The feeder is not suited for spreading
powdery fertilizers.
Adjusting the fertilizer feed
The dosage is adjusted by turning the hand wheel on the right side of the machine. The hand wheel is locked
with a plastic part, which also contains the main feeder dosage scale.
NOTE! To adjust the feed, push the plastic locking lever towards the rear end of the machine
(arrow direction) and turn it simultaneously 90 degrees. This will unlock the hand wheel.
To increase the dosage, turn the hand wheel counterclockwise. When you know the suitable dosage of
fertilizer, you can choose a normative feeder adjustment position from inside the machine cover.
You should make the adjustment by approaching the desired position always from a higher adjustment
position. If the original adjustment is lower than required, turn the hand wheel counterclockwise for 1/2 - 1
turns above the intended adjustment. After that return to the desired position by turning the wheel.
After making the adjustment, turn the locking lever into the groove on the hand wheel to lock the wheel and
the lever. Note that the adjustments given in the seeding table are normative, and the actual dosage varies
with different lots of fertilizer. We recommend checking the required dosage by performing a calibration test.
The machine can also be equipped with electronic control devices, which are available as accessories
(AgromasterCan, Agrocont tai CE-21). Then the fertilizer side has no hand wheel, but the device is controlled
by a set of levers powered by a actuator motor.
The bottom valves are normally set to slot 2. If wet fertilizer gets into the feeder, the feeding rollers may get
clogged, which may considerably distort the dosage.
The cylinders can be cleaned by adjusting the dosage to zero, and back to desired position. You should then
remember the adjustment instruction given above: turn first 1/2-1 turns over the desired adjustment position
(form a bigger value towards a smaller one). Instructions for using the seeding table and performing the
calibration test are provided further below.
To disconnect the fertilizer feeder, remove the shackle pin from the feeder shaft end on the right end of the
machine.
