When you connect a Tume Cultipack rear harrow to Nova Combi seeder fertilizer, you can seed directly
into ploughed soil without prior separate tilling.
5. FIELD MACHINE TIRES
When applying direct seeding to certain fields, attention should be paid to maintaining and improving the
soil structure in order to maintain proper water management. The ground should also be as even as
possible.
When driving in the field, only such sets of tires that ensure sufficiently low surface pressure should be
used. Furthermore, the axle weight should be as low as possible. Driving in the fields should be avoided
in wet conditions.
6. DEPLOYMENT
Operating principle of wheel set
The longer cylinders at the ends of the machine turn a support tube frame extending the whole machine width
and used also for attaching the outer wheel pairs. Intermediate wheels are attached by joints to the tube
frame, and they are operated by their own operating cylinders. All these cylinders are connected to the same
hydraulic circuit, and have the same pressure. This is why the wheel pairs can adapt to roughness on the
ground surface, but can still maintain a stable rolling power through the entire working width (figure 1).
The structure of the support wheel set has been designed so as to provide equal pressure under all wheel
pairs when the machine is in operating position (down). When the machine is lifted to upper position, the
unfastened wheel pairs in the middle carry a slightly heavier load. This reduces the risk of damaging the outer
wheel pairs, which are most susceptible to damages during transport.
The seeding depth of the coulters is adjusted by the front working depth support wheels. The adjustment is
made separately for each coulter slide so that one wheel adjusts two coulters. The adjustment is made with
quick-release fasteners in front of the slide (figure 2). The maximum seeding depth is adjusted by pushing the
fastener latch in the lowest groove.
Correspondingly, in order to seed near the surface, fasten the latch in the upper grooves.
A special hoisting device should be used to hoist the Tume Nova on a truck (for instance to load it in the
factory). The machine is hoisted by the central wall located inside the hoppers towards the driving direction. It
has two oblong holes where you pass the hoisting devices (you will need two) and where the hoisting chains
are attached. Ensure that the chains are of equal lengths: The Nova seeder must be kept in upright position
when hoisted. Completely open the tarpaulin cover when hoisting to avoid damaging it!
You can also load Nova Combi on e.g. a truck using a loading bridge, or alternatively use a pallet equipped
with a sufficiently low ramp, and wide enough to fully accommodate the rear wheel set of the machine. Make
sure that the intermediate wheels do not fall down in between the loading bridges. As for the outer wheel
pairs, it is enough to fit only one of them on the pallet, if the machine is transported towards the driving
direction.
When backing, please note also the rear wheel scrapers, located near ground level. Beware of obstructions!
When backing over a high threshold, for instance, you can lift the scrapers by slightly lowering the machine.
Ensure that enough space is left under the coulters so that they do not hit any obstructions.
