Overview

The Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX is a versatile wireless gaming headset designed for multi-platform compatibility, offering a range of features for an immersive audio experience. It can be used with Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Windows PCs, Mac computers, and Nintendo Switch (in docked mode). The headset connects wirelessly via a USB-A transmitter, which features a switch to toggle between "Xbox Mode" and "USB Mode" to ensure optimal performance for the chosen platform.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX is to provide high-quality wireless audio and microphone capabilities for gaming and communication across various platforms. It aims to deliver clear game audio and crisp voice chat, enhancing the overall gaming experience. The headset is equipped with an adjustable, flip-to-mute microphone, allowing users to easily control their voice input.

Usage Features:

Pairing and Setup:

To use the headset, the transmitter must first be set to the correct mode for the desired platform.

  • For Xbox consoles (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One): The transmitter's switch should be set to "Xbox."
  • For other USB devices (PS5, PS4, Windows PC, Mac, Nintendo Switch in docked mode): The transmitter's switch should be set to "USB."

Once the mode is selected, the transmitter is plugged into a USB port on the platform. The headset is then powered on by pressing and holding its Power button. The headset and transmitter will automatically pair, indicated by their LEDs turning solid green.

Re-pairing (if needed):

In rare cases, such as after a firmware update, re-pairing might be necessary. To re-pair, start with the headset powered OFF and the transmitter in "Xbox Mode." Press and hold the headset's power button until its LED flashes rapidly. Insert the transmitter into the console. After a few moments, both headset and transmitter LEDs will turn solid, confirming successful re-pairing.

Audio Controls:

The headset features two volume dials: an UPPER Volume Dial and a LOWER Volume Dial. Their functions vary depending on the transmitter's mode:

  • In Xbox Mode:
    • UPPER Volume Dial: Controls Game Audio Volume.
    • LOWER Volume Dial: Controls Chat Audio Volume.
  • In USB Mode (PS4/PS5, PC/Mac, Nintendo Switch):
    • UPPER Volume Dial: Controls Master (Game + Chat) Volume.
    • LOWER Volume Dial: Controls Variable Mic Monitor Volume.

Microphone:

The Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX features a flip-to-mute microphone. To use the mic, gently push/flip it forwards; a low-high tone will indicate it's unmuted. To mute, push/flip it back the other way; a high-low tone will indicate it's muted.

Mic Monitor Feature:

The Mic Monitor feature allows users to hear their own voice through the headset when speaking into the mic. This helps prevent inadvertently yelling at other players. The volume of the Mic Monitor can be adjusted using the LOWER Volume Dial when the transmitter is in USB Mode. It's important to note that this feature only controls how loud you hear your own voice, not how loud other people hear your voice.

Platform-Specific Setup and Settings:

  • Xbox Setup:

    • Ensure the transmitter is in Xbox Mode and connected to the console's USB port.
    • Power on the headset.
    • For surround sound (Xbox only), go to Settings >> General >> Volume & Audio Output and set Headset Format to Windows Sonic for Headphones.
    • Confirm the headset is recognized by the console under Settings >> All Settings >> Kinect & Devices >> Devices & Accessories.
    • For chat, ensure voice chat is enabled in game settings and any Push-To-Talk features are disabled.
  • USB Setup (PC, PS, Nintendo Switch in Docked Mode):

    • Ensure the transmitter is in USB Mode and connected to the platform's USB port.
    • Power on the headset.
    • For PC: Right-click the speaker icon in the Taskbar, click "Open Sound Settings," and set the headset as the default Input and Output device. Also, check in-game audio settings.
    • For PlayStation (PS4/PS5):
      • PS4 Setup: Go to Settings >> Devices >> Audio Devices. Select Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX for Input & Output Device, set Output to Headphones to All Audio, and set Volume Control (headphones) level to maximum. Adjust Microphone Level as needed. 3D Audio can be enabled and adjusted.
      • PS5 Setup: Go to Settings >> Sound >> Audio Output >> Output Device. Select Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX for Output Device, set Output to Headphones to All Audio, and set Volume Control (headphones) level to Maximum. Adjust microphone levels via Settings >> Sound >> Microphone >> Adjust Mic Level.
    • For Nintendo Switch (Docked Mode): Set the headset as the default device within the game itself. Ensure the game supports chat capabilities and voice chat is enabled, with Push-To-Talk features disabled.

Turtle Beach Audio Hub:

The desktop version of the Turtle Beach Audio Hub (available for Windows and Mac) allows users to adjust and control certain headset features. The headset MUST be powered on and paired with the transmitter for the Audio Hub to recognize it.

  • Home Page: Displays an image of the headset, options to Restore or Update firmware, and the Audio Hub version.
  • Settings: Includes sliders for "Mic Monitor Level" and "Tones Level."
    • Mic Monitor Level: Controls the volume of the Mic Monitor feature.
    • Tones Level: Controls the volume of indicator tones (e.g., power on/off, mic mute/unmute, feature engagement/disengagement, EQ Preset switching).
  • Information Page: Provides details such as Headset Model, Audio Hub Version Number, Firmware Version Number (for both headset and transmitter), and links to FAQ and Technical Support.

Troubleshooting:

  • No Mic Audio:
    • Verify headset and transmitter are paired (solid green LEDs).
    • Ensure transmitter is in the correct mode for the platform.
    • Check if the console recognizes the headset (e.g., on Xbox, check Devices & Accessories list).
    • Perform a Party Test (Xbox) to see if a ring lights up around your icon when speaking.
    • Record a Test Message (Xbox) and play it back to check voice clarity.
    • If issues persist, perform a Power Cycle (headset and console).
    • For USB Mode, ensure platform/game settings are configured correctly.
    • Perform a recording test on the platform.
  • Abnormal Audio:
    • Check if Superhuman Hearing (SHH) is enabled. SHH is a situational feature for competitive gaming and should not be left on all the time. Quick-press the power button to disengage SHH (indicated by a descending tone).
  • Headset Shutting Off:
    • The headset has an Auto-Shutdown feature that powers it off after 10 consecutive minutes of no audio to conserve battery life. This is a fixed feature. To avoid it, keep some background music or game soundtrack playing. Mic input alone will not prevent auto-shutdown.
    • If the headset shuts off while audio is playing, contact support.
  • No PC Audio:
    • Check the Speaker icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen; if the device name is "Xbox Controller," ensure the transmitter's console switch is set to USB, not Xbox.
    • Ensure the headset is set as the default Input and Output device in both PC and game settings.

Maintenance Features:

Charging:

The Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX offers 40+ hours of rechargeable battery life.

  • Charge the headset regularly and fully before storing.
  • The headset can be charged using the console's USB port or a USB Wall Adapter.
  • LED Indicators during Charging:
    • Low battery: LED "breathes" red.
    • Charging (plugged in): LED turns solid red.
    • Fully charged (headset ON): LED "breathes" green.
    • Fully charged (headset OFF): LED turns off.

Storage:

Always charge the headset before storing it for extended periods (over 3 months). Avoid storing the unit in temperatures above 113°F/45°C.
