4. CONNECTION OF THE CONTROL BOX TO THE INSTALLATION
• Disconnect the conductors from the output of the circuit breaker or differential protector belonging to the line that
will connect to the ATS. Then, connect them to the output terminals or "OUTPUT" located on the circuit board of the ATS
control box.
• Make the connection between the output of the electrical protector and the power source terminals or "Mains Power"
located on the circuit board of the ATS control box.
• Finally, connect the generator terminals or "Generator" located on the circuit board of the ATS control box, with one of
the generator's outlets through a male plug.
Each of these three connections need conductors (phase and neutral), suitable for transmitting the power supply of the
home. To them must be added the protective ground connection cable.
5. SAFETY:
• Install warning and information signs on the electrical panels that are associated with the connection of the ATS
system. The signs must inform of the existence of an automatic emergency system that energizes the installation when
the protection circuit breakers are activated. It should also be informed about which lines are connected, where the
control of the ATS system is located and how it is switched off.
The Switch located on its front face, together with the Indicator lights, turns off the ATS control of this equipment. Also,
disconnect the control cable and the plug from the generator.
If there is no warning of the existence of this system in the Installation, anyone who performs work in the general
installation of the home is exposed to electric shock, which can be fatal.
• Perform periodic tests to the system. By lowering the electrical guards of the home, the generator must be capable of
automatically turning on and transmitting power.
• Perform preventive maintenance to the generator as indicated in this manual. Consult the supplier or your authorized
technical service.
• Keep the battery charged and in good condition. It is recommended to turn on the generator for 10 minutes every three
months to maintain the battery charge. It also helps to flow the fuel through the injectors.
IMPORTANT:
Whenever you manipulate the generator for maintenance, that does not involve the ATS system, you must disconnect
the control box, turning it off from the Switch, disconnecting the control cable and the plug from the outlet.
Also, disconnect any other plugs that may be connected to the machine.
6. RECOMMENDATIONS:
• Warn all people who live or transit at home about the existence of the automation system.
• Always try to keep the tank with fuel. For this, use the fuel level indicators and the hours of use of the generator.
• Keep a record of the uses and maintenance of the system.
• Read, understand and keep this document for future reference and have the contacts of the supplier and its technical
service at hand.
IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS FOR THE INSTALLATION AND USE OF
THE ATS SYSTEM
The ATS is an emergency transient power supply system that can assist the general installation when it interrupts its
service and needs to be installed under the current electrical standards. Therefore, it must be considered as another
electrical installation in your home, and as such, must be regulated and certified by the corresponding local public
authorities.
In the case of Chile, the electrical installation project must be submitted to the Superintendency of Electricity and fuels
(Superintendencia de Electricidad y Combustibles, SEC) according to the regulations in force. Likewise, the project must
be carried out under the same rules.
NOTE: Use the services of a certified electrician to carry out the installation of the ATS system. In this way, you will
comply with the laws, safeguard the security of your family, workers that manipulate its installation or the public
network, your assets and keep in force, in addition, the guarantee for this product.
INSTALLATION
To incorporate the ATS system to the installation of your home, you should consider the following:
1. ELECTRICAL DIMENSIONING:
• The total power needed to energize the home, or part of it, must be equal to or less than the power capacity delivered
by the generator.
• The conductors and their ducts must be suitable for the transmission of energy and the environmental conditions of
the place where they are installed. Consider the voltage losses by the distance between the house and the generator.
• The calculations must meet the current electrical standards.
2. POSITIONING OF THE ELECTRICAL GENERATOR:
• The generator must be placed in a place where there is full ventilation. NEVER install it inside a garage, a warehouse,
or a similar place to make it work there.
• It must have a roof, or shed, that protects it from rain, snow, dew and from the sun. A firm, flat and level floor, at a
height that prevents the water from running under the generator, will make the work in your installation safer.
• As much as possible a fence or retaining walls that prevent access to children, animals or people not authorized to
generator, but that, in turn, allow adequate ventilation, both to oxygenate, and to evacuate gases.
• It must allow easy access to authorized persons in order to handle it freely.
• Install away from the home, evacuated gases can be deadly.
3. POSITIONING THE ATS CONTROL BOX:
• The box must be very close to the generator, as far as the control cable allows.
• It must be protected from the weather and access by unauthorized persons. It is recommended to place in a closed
cabinet, but properly ventilated.
WARNING! Load circuit, its consumption must not exceed 45A or 4.4 KW
WARNING! The circuit breaker or thermal protection connected to the power grid to the ATS must not exceed 50A.
