THE ULTIMAKER METHOD XL TOUCHSCREEN
The touchscreen located at the upper right of the machine operates the UltiMaker Method XL.

TOUCHSCREEN
THE GUIDED SETUP
The rst time you turn on your UltiMaker Method XL, you will be guided through the initial setup process using the
UltiMaker Method XL user interface. This guided setup will walk you through connecting the printer to an internet
connection, authorizing your printer, attaching Performance extruders, running calibration, loading material, and running
your test print.
RE-RUN THE GUIDED SETUP
To re-run the guided setup, select SETTINGS > SYSTEM SETTINGS > RESTORE FACTORY SETTINGS.
Restoring factory settings will allow you to rerun the guided setup.
NEW FIRMWARE UPDATE REQUIRED
Having up to date rmware is important for getting the most out of your UltiMaker Method XL. The rst step in the setup
process will make sure that your UltiMaker Method XL is running the most up to date rmware. You will not be able to
proceed without updating rmware. Use the touch screen on your UltiMaker Method XL to select the option that works
best for you. Once selected your UltiMaker Method XL will walk you through the rmware update process via on screen
prompts.
UPDATING VIA ETHERNET
Please make sure your UltiMaker Method XL is plugged into your local network via the ethernet port in the back of the
printer. Once your UltiMaker Method XL has established an ethernet connection, it will download the latest rmware. Once
the rmware has been downloaded and installed, press “ Continue Setup ” .
UPDATING VIA WI-F i
Once you select “ Update via W i- F I ” from the startup screen, your UltiMaker Method XL 3D Printer will automatically scan
for nearby W i- F inetworks. Select your preferred wireless network from the available list. You will then be prompted for the
password for this network, please enter it using the touch screen. Once complete your UltiMaker Method XL will connect
to the network and automatically download the newest rmware version. Once you have successfully entered the
password for the selected W i- F i network, your UltiMaker Method XL will automatically connect and begin searching for the
latest rmware version. Once the latest rmware has been found, it will automatically begin downloading and installing.
Once all three steps have been completed, your UltiMaker Method XL will restart running the latest rmware version. Once
the rmware has been downloaded and installed, press “ Continue Setup ”
