1.
Measure the height of the cam
at
its highest point with a micrometer.
2.
If the measurement exceeds the allowable limit, replace the camshaft. See engine
specifications.

CHECKING GEAR BACKLASH
1.
Install a lever-type indicator between the gear teeth.
2.
Clamp one
gear,
rotate the other and measure the backlash.
3.
If the backlash exceeds the allowable limit, replace. See engine specifications.
