AshRemoval‐FreestandingUnit:
Removetheashesperiodicallytoavoidunnecessaryashbuildup.Ashremovalisasfollows:
1. Letfirerunoutandallowunitcooltoroomtemperature
2. Cleantheheatexchangertubes(seeHe atExchangerCleaningsection)MakesurePelletStoveisatroom
temperaturebeforetouching
3. Open
theashpandoor,removetheburnpotandburnpotlinerandemptyintometalcontainer
4. Vacuumtoremoveashesfromthefirebox.
BESURETHATASHESARECOOLTOTHETOUCHBEFOREVACUUMING.Somevacuumcleanersmayleakashinto
theroom.Yourvacuumcleanershouldhave
aspecialfilterorbagtoeliminateleakage.
5. Removeashpananddisposeofashesintometalcontainer
6. Reinstallashpan
7. Reinstallburnpotandburnpotliner.

DisposalofAshes
Ashes should be placed in a steel metal container with a tight fitting lid.The closed container of
ashes
shouldbeplacedonanoncombustiblefloororonthegroundwellawayfromallcombustible
materials, pending final disposal. If the ashes are disposed of by burial in soil or otherwise locally
dispersed, they should be retained in the closed container until all cinders have been thoroughly
cooled.Donotplaceotherwasteinthesamecontainer.
