2 Safety regulations
The rooftop air-conditioning unit has been designed and manufactured
in accordance with the for cooling systems valid EC guidelines. If moun-
ted and used in compliance with the assembling, operation and ser-
vice instructions the equipment is safe for operation.
If the height specified in the vehicle’s documentation exceeds as a result
of mounting the rooftop air-conditioning unit an approval by the authori-
ties must be obtained for acceptance following the provision under clau-
se No. 19 of StVZO (the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations).
As a consequence, the vehicle load capacity is reduced by the weight of
the extra fixtures.
In principle, the general regulations for prevention of accidents must be
followed. Other safety precautions beyond the scope of the “General
Safety Regulations” are listed in the following. The specific safety regu-
lations are defined in the individual sections or procedures of these
instructions by highlighting the same.
General safety regulations
Non-compliance with the assembling instructions and the directions
specified therein shall result in cancellation of liability on the part of
Valeo. The same applies to repairs carried out by unqualified personnel
or without the use of original spare parts.
Assembling, maintenance and repair work must be performed by com-
petent and qualified personnel only.
Installation, maintenance and repairs may only be carried out when
the vehicle's engine is not running, the 24VDC power supply is
switched off and the high voltage is switched off.
Before starting the work at the air-conditioning unit, it is to make
voltageless and this state must be ensured for the duration of the
work.
In particular, the following safety precautions must be observed:
switch off the power supply to the unit
ensure it cannot be switched on again
verify system is voltage-free
ground and short circuit
cover or block neighbouring parts under voltage
Electrical cables and operating elements of the air-conditioning unit
must be arranged in the vehicle in such a way that their functioning is
faultless under normal operating conditions and cannot be hampered.
Work at electrical equipment may only be started if protective measures
against electric shock, short circuits and arcing faults have been carried
out.
