Introduction
The Valor L1, L1 See Thru, L2, L3, LT1, LT2, LX1, LX2,
H5, H6 and P2 replaces may be upgraded with a
WiFi module, allowing the homeowner to connect the
replace onto the home's WiFi system and control it
using the Valor 10 app on a smart device (which must
be within WiFi range).
There are separate general requirements for each
major style of replace. Make sure to follow the
instructions for each style.
Electrical Requirements
A grounded, single phase, 115VAC power supply is
required for operation of the WiFi system.
If the AC main power is lost, WiFi operation will be
lost also. Remote operation of the replace (using the
remote handset or wall switch) can still be achieved if
battery power is already supplied and available.
WARNING
All electrical installations must be
performed by a qualified electrician and
must be electrically wired and grounded
in accordance with local codes, or, in the
absence of local codes, with the National
Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70 or the
Canadian Electrical Code, CSA C22.1.
Attention!
If the AC receptacle in your replace has not
been connected, see your Installation Manual for
instructions, or hard wire back to available power
(consult local electrical codes).

Overview

The Valor WiFi Upgrades are designed to integrate Valor L1, L1 See Thru, L2, L3, LT1, LT2, LX1, LX2, H5, H6, and P2 fireplaces with a home's WiFi system, enabling control via the Valor 10 app on a smart device. This upgrade allows homeowners to manage their fireplace settings remotely, provided the smart device is within WiFi range.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Valor WiFi Upgrades is to provide remote control capabilities for compatible Valor gas fireplaces. By connecting the fireplace to a home's WiFi network, users can operate various fireplace functions, such as turning the unit on/off, adjusting flame height, and controlling optional accessories like fans and ambient lighting, all through the Valor 10 app. This system enhances convenience and modernizes the fireplace experience.

The upgrade involves several hardware components, including a WiFi module, a V-Module (which acts as a relay box for controlling fireplace functions), and a Valor 10 Receiver/Remote Kit. The V-Module is crucial for managing power to accessories like fans and lights, and for communicating with the main fireplace control valve. The Valor 10 Receiver processes signals from both the physical remote handset and the WiFi module, translating them into commands for the fireplace.

The system requires a grounded, single-phase 115VAC power supply for the WiFi components. In the event of an AC power loss, the WiFi operation will cease, but the fireplace can still be operated manually using the remote handset or a wall switch, provided battery power is available for the main fireplace control.

  • Thermostatic Functions: The Valor 10 handset includes a temperature sensor, enabling thermostatic control via the app.
  • Synchronization: The Valor 10 Receiver and handset must be initially paired through a synchronization process involving pressing a RESET button on the Receiver and a button on the handset. This is a one-time pairing.
  • Module Placement: The V-Module and WiFi Module are designed for discreet placement within the fireplace's front panel or controls area, with specific locations recommended for different fireplace models (L1/LT1, L2/LT2, L3, LX1, LX2, H5/H6, P2).
  • Existing Accessories: The system can integrate with existing optional fan and lighting kits, though some older V-Modules may require replacement with the GV60VM kit for WiFi compatibility. Ambient lighting in LX1/LX2 models can be operated via WiFi.

Maintenance Features:

  • Resetting the WiFi Module: In case of a non-recoverable failure or a change in the home's WiFi network, the WiFi module can be reset to factory default. This is achieved by inserting a thin object into a small opening below the WLAN LED on the unit and holding the reset button for 30 seconds. This action removes all existing network data.
  • Battery Replacement: The Valor 10 handset uses AAA batteries, and the battery holder for the receiver uses AA batteries. The system is designed to continue functioning with battery power for basic operations even if AC power is lost.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides guidance on hardware requirements and installation steps to ensure proper setup. If unsure about equipment compatibility or installation, users are advised to contact their local Valor dealer.
  • Software Updates: The Valor 10 app is available on Apple Store and Google Play Store, allowing for potential software updates to enhance functionality and address issues.
  • Wiring Management: Instructions emphasize gathering extra wire with cable ties to prevent contact with hot metal surfaces within the fireplace, contributing to safety and longevity.
