Operator’s Manual Backhoe Series BH - Page 35 of 91 - Version 2.0
4.3 Instructions before starting the Backhoe
Ensure you wear protective safety gear and that all bystanders are safely out of the way.
◼ Start your tractor’s engine and engage the PTO at idle speed.
◼ Slowly increase the PTO speed until it reaches 540 rpm. Reduced PTO speed can reduce the
hydraulic pump's efficiency.
◼ Usually, a mark on your tractor’s tachometer will indicate the necessary engine speed to
achieve the required PTO speed.
• The setup is now complete. You must read and understand all operating
instructions before starting operating the Backhoe.
Prolonged exposure to loud noise may cause permanent hearing loss!
Tractors with or without implements attached can often be noisy enough to cause permanent,
partial hearing loss. We recommend that you wear hearing protection full-time if the noise in the
operator’s position exceeds 80 dB.
• Noise over 80 dB on a long-term basis can cause severe hearing loss.
Noise over 90 dB adjacent to the operator over a long-term basis may
cause permanent total hearing loss.
4.4 Testing the Hydraulic Hook-Up
1. Ensure all locking pins are disengaged.
2. Start the tractor and take a seat on the backhoe operating seat.
3. Raise and lower the stabilizer legs and extend and retract the dipper stick.
4. Exit the backhoe, stop the engine, and check the hydraulic fluid level in the Backhoe oil
reservoir. Fill up if necessary.
