Inthiscase,thetwoultrasonicsensorsunderneaththebindeectorsformtheupperdetectionplane,whilethethree
sensorsaremountedunderneaththelifters.Thesearelocatedhereinthedriving-offposition.Allthesensorsare
installedinanuprightposition.
Generallyspeaking,thefollowinginstallationrulesofthumbhaveprovedeffective:
Theultrasonicsensorsshouldbeinstalledwhereverpossibleattherearendofalltheattachedmechanismsso
thatnopartsofthemprotrudeintothemeasuringareaofthesensors.
Thebestsolutionhasoftenprovedtobetoinstallasensordirectlyunderneatheachbindeector(assumingthat
theliftingandtippingmechanismisttedwithsuchdeectors).Thislocationisnotalwayssuitable,however.
Inthecaseofsystemsthatjusthavealoadingposition(i.e.withoutadriving-offposition),itisoftenonlypossibleto
installtwosensorsononemainlevel.
Ifsensorsareonlyinstalledononemainlevel,theyshouldbemountedwhereverpossibleataheightofbetween
50and90cmabovetheroadsurface.
Thedistancebetweenthetwo(outer)sensorsonthemainlevelshouldbeatleast1.50metres.
Inthecaseofsystemswithadriving-offposition,anadditionallevelwithtwotothreefurthersensorscanfrequently
berealised.
Wheresensorshavebeeninstalledontwoplanes,thebottomedgeofthesensorsonthelowerplaneshouldbeat
least40cmabovetheroadsurface.Otherwise,rampsorcurbswillbemistakenlydetectedasbeingobjectsbehind
thevehiclewhenitdrivesoverthem.
Inthecaseofaloweradditionallevel,theouter15°sensorsshouldbemountedwithinthetreadsfortherefuse
collectors(ifpresent)sothattheyarenotinthemeasuringarea.
Thedistancebetweenthetwo(outer)sensorsofaloweradditionallevelshouldbeatleast1.20metres.
