Positive Middle Ear Pressure
• Produces positive Tympanometric

• Indicative of acute otitis media, if peak
is extremely positive

movement
• Requires repeating measurement
Ear Canal Occlusion
• Can produce flat tympanogram with
ear canal volume lower than expected
• May also produce BLOCK message
• Requires repeating measurement
Patent Tympanostomy Tube or
Perforated Tympanic Membrane
• Can produce flat tympanogram with
ear canal volume higher than expected
• May also produce OPEN message
