Measuring Method #1:
Check the difference between the inner diameter of the guide and
the diameter of the valve stem.
Measuring Method #2:
Check the valve deflection with a mounted dial indicator by moving
the valve stem from side to side.
NOTE: Separate the valve from the valve seat before measur ing.
Measure at a position near the valve guide.
Replacing the Valve Guide
1. Remove the valve seal from the
valve guide.
2. Knock the guide out toward.the
opposite side of the combus~~n
chamber with a valve guide
installer.
3. Place a clip on the new valve
guide and drive it in from the
opposite side of the combustion
chamber with the valve guide
installer.
NOTE: The shape of the intake
valve guides differs from that
of the guides on the exhaust
side.
4. Install the valve seal on the
valve guide with a valve seal
pusher.
