Key Starting TS/TR2 engines
Ensure the parking brake is in the raised
“ON” position.
Ensure the gear lever is in the neutral
position.
Fully depress and hold down both clutch
and accelerator pedals.
Check that the decompressor lever, (if
fitted) is away (N) from the flywheel.
Turn the engine control lever
anti-clockwise to the “STOP” position (L)
and release it.
Turn the start key clockwise to position
(1), the battery charging light (P) will
illuminate.
Turn the key and hold at the “START”
position (2) until the engine fires and then
release it immediately.
If the engine fails to start within 20
seconds, release the key and attempt to
restart after allowing sufficient time for all
moving parts to stop.
Stopping the engine
WARNING Never stop the engine by
operating the decompressor
lever or valve damage may
occur
Key start engines: Turning
the starter key to the “OFF”
(0) position will not stop the
engine.
It is advisable to run on light load for a
few minutes before stopping.
Turn the engine control anti-clockwise to
the “STOP” position (L) and hold it there
until the engine comes to rest.
Key start engines: After the engine has
stopped, turn the starter key to the “OFF”
(0) position.
