Console Messages
Operational Messages
During normal operation, it is common to have messages appear on the display. Generally,
these messages are displayed only briefly; exceptions are noted in Table 18.

Message Explanation
B U S Y An attempt was made to transmit on a channel already in use by another console
or parallel remote.
CIC Reset The Console Interface Card for this position has been reset.
Console Discon The Model 4217B Audio Panel is disconnected from the Dispatch Workstation.
This message is removed when communication is reestablished.
Console Ready Displayed following a system power up or reset to indicate that all functions have
been initialized and are operational. If the system includes a Diagnostic Printer, a
log report is printed. The message is removed after the first key press.
Console Reset An operator induced console reset has been performed. This message is displayed
following a “Set Console Position” operation from the File Maintenance option of
the Miscellaneous Menu.
Demo The console program has been invoked in the “demo” mode. In this mode, all
channel and system activity is simulated – no control of the Common Control
Equipment is provided.
Disconnected The Common Control Equipment is disconnected from the Dispatch Workstation.
The channel status region greys out and becomes unavailable for use. When
communication is reestablished, the disconnected message disappears and the
channel status region is restored to a usable state.
Initializing During a power up or reset condition, this message is displayed while the system
configuration is loaded.
Intercom Another console position is calling this position over the console intercom.
Priority TX A Supervisory console has overridden your transmission using Priority Transmit.
Released The supervisor console position has released control back to this position.
Takeover The supervisor console position has inhibited control of this position.
T A L K - ## After an Instant Call Page is sent, the transmitter stays on for a configurable
amount of talk time. This status message indicates the remaining talk time.
TX Keyup Fail Transmit keyup status was not received during an attempted transmit operation.
TX Timeout The 3-minute transmission time out expired on a system channel. This can be due
to a stuck transmit switch.
