P-79X Series User’s Guide
219
This is a sample FTP session saving the current configuration to the computer file “config.cfg”.
If your (T)FTP client does not allow you to have a destination filename different than the source,
you will need to rename them as the P-79X only recognizes “rom-0” and “ras”. Be sure you keep
unaltered copies of both files for later use.
The following table is a summary. Please note that the internal filename refers to the filename on
the P-79X and the external filename refers to the filename not
on the P-79X, that is, on your
computer, local network or FTP site and so the name (but not the extension) may vary. After
uploading new firmware, see the Status screen to confirm that you have uploaded the correct
firmware version.
FTP Restrictions
FTP will not work when:
1 The firewall is active (turn the firewall off or create a firewall rule to allow access from the WAN).
2 You have disabled the FTP service in the Remote Management screen.
3 The IP you entered in the Secured Client IP field does not match the client IP. If it does not match,
the device will disallow the FTP session.
23.1.3 Before You Begin
Ensure you have either created a firewall rule to allow access from the WAN or turned the firewall
off, otherwise the FTP will not function.
Make sure the FTP service has not been disabled in the Remote Management screen.
23.1.4 Tool Examples
Using FTP or TFTP to Restore Configuration
This example shows you how to restore a previously saved configuration. Note that this function
erases the current configuration before restoring a previous back up configuration; please do not
attempt to restore unless you have a backup configuration file stored on disk.
FTP is the preferred method for restoring your current computer configuration to your device since
FTP is faster. Please note that you must wait for the system to automatically restart after the file
transfer is complete.
