USER INSTRUCTIONS
Please read these instructions in conjunction with other
relevant 3M User instructions and Reference leaets
where you will nd information on approved combinations/
classications, spare parts and accessories.
SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The 3M Ado Battery Charger is designed to charge Li-ion
batteries for use with 3M Ado Powered Air Respirator.
WARNING
Proper training, use and maintenance are essential.
Failure to follow all instructions on the use of these
products can lead to severe or life threatening illness,
injury or permanent disability.
For suitability and proper use follow local regulations,
refer to all information supplied or contact a safety
professional/3M representative (local contact details).
Particular attention should be given to warning
statements
where indicated.
APPROVALS
These products are in conformity with the European Directive
2004/108/EC (EMC - Electromagnetic Compatibility) and the
Low Voltage Directive (LVD 2006/95/EC).
LIMITATIONS OF USE
Only use with original 3M™ spare parts and
accessories listed in the reference leaet and within the
usage conditions given in the Technical Specications
The use of substitute components or modications
not specied in these user instructions might seriously
impair protection and may invalidate claims under the
warranty or cause the product to be noncompliant with
protection classications and approvals.
The product must not be used in ammable or
explosive environments.
Always correctly use and maintain the product
according to these instructions. Failure to do so may
cause re or explosion or could adversely affect
respirator performance and result in injury, sickness
or death.
Do not open,crush, disassemble, dispose of in re,
heat above 60°C or incinerate.
To avoid damage to the equipment do not use solvents
for cleaning. Do not immerse in water or spray directly
with liquids. Do not wipe the electrical contacts.

PREPARATION FOR USE
Check that the equipment is complete (see g A:1),
undamaged and correctly assembled, any damaged or
defective parts must be replaced before use.
All new batteries must be charged before and after each
use (see operating instructions).
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
3M Ado Powered Air Respirator has a three bar battery
indicator (see g B:1) showing remaining capacity. When
the last bar starts ashing and an audible warning is
heard, less than 5% battery capacity is remaining. The
warning sound will change noticeable after a while and 3M
Ado Powered Air Respirator will turn off automatically.

Replacing the battery on the 3M Ado Powered Air
Respirator (see g D:1). Replace the battery and gently
pull the batterypack to conrm it is locked in place.
Battery charging
The charger is intended for indoor use only, protect
against moisture. Both the standard and heavy duty
battery will be fully charged in about 4-5 hours depending
on residual capacity.
The battery can be charged when installed in 3M Ado
Powered Air Respirator, or separately (see g C:1) 3M Ado
Powered Air Respirator must not be used while charging.
Recommended temperature during charging is between
0 to +40°C. If the charger indicator light will not light up
when connecting the charger to the battery, please check
cords and connectors.
The battery charger is designed for fast charging of
3M Ado Li-ion batteries with capacity 10.8V/32Wh to
10.8V/48 Wh.
Do not charge batteries with unapproved chargers,
in enclosed cabinets without ventilation, in hazardous
locations, or near sources of high heat.
Do not use, charge, or store batteries outside the
recommended temperature limits.
