ping <IP address>.
If you selected DHCP in the LAN setup, the IP address of
the modem is 192.168.1.1.
If you selected Static IP in the LAN setup, use the address
entered in step 4 on page 19.
6. If the ping command on the PC is not successful,
troubleshoot the cable pair using normal POTS
troubleshooting techniques.
