Before Contacting Customer Support
Three screens in 3DM 2 provide controller version and status information that
can be helpful when contacting 3ware Customer Support with questions or for
troubleshooting: Controller Summary, Unit Details, and Unit Information.
You can copy and paste the information from these screens into an email
using the system clipboard. When each page is displayed on the screen,
highlight it using your mouse, press Ctrl-C to copy it to the clipboard, and
then Ctrl-V to paste it into an e-mail.
You may also want to take a snapshot of these pages so that you can respond
to questions about your system configuration to the Customer Support
representative.
Command Logging
All changes that are made to RAID configurations using 3DM or CLI are
automatically stored in a special log file. This log can be helpful to AMCC
technical support if they are helping you troubleshoot problems with your
RAID controller and units.
In Linux and FreeBSD, the log file is in /var/log directory.
In Windows, the log file is in the 3DM2 installation directory if 3DM2 is
installed on your system. If 3DM2 is not installed, the log file is in the home
directory of the current user.
Command logging is on by default. It can be disabled through the CLI. (For
details see the 3ware Serial ATA RAID Controller CLI Guide.)
