To prime the infusion set
1. Make sure your insulin pump is in STOP and the KeyLock is
deactivated or the keys are unlocked.
2. Press
d
3 times to select the prime infusion set menu.
3. Confirm with
f
.
The infusion set symbol flashes. Make sure that the infusion
set is not inserted into your body.
Info: If you have unintentionally activated this
function, press
d
once or wait 20 seconds* to exit
and to put your insulin pump into STOP.
4. Press
f
for 3 seconds, until your insulin pump beeps a
melody and the motor begins to run.
The piston rod moves forward in rapid motion until the rub-
ber plunger of the cartridge is reached.
As soon as the plunger has been reached, the priming process
starts and a delivery of 25 units* begins with a count-up on
the display.
5. After the priming process has started, hold your insulin pump
upright in your hands so that any air bubbles inside the car-
tridge will move to the top. Wait until the insulin flows from
the adapter into the luer of the infusion set.
* This parameter may vary based on the standard configuration of your insulin pump
and changes made using the Accu-Chek DiaLog Pump Programming tool.
6. First, tap your insulin pump against your palm while holding
it upright.
Then tap your insulin pump against your palm while holding
it horizontally to remove the air bubbles from the luer and the
infusion set.
Repeat step 6 until all air bubbles have been removed from
the cartridge and the infusion set.
The infusion set is properly primed when no more air is visible
and insulin emerges from the tip of the needle.
7. You can stop the priming process by pressing any key.
Your insulin pump beeps a melody and returns to STOP.
Info: If there is no cartridge in the cartridge compartment when priming,
an “Alert A1: Cartridge Low Warning” occurs. If after confirmation of this
alert the prime function is continued again with an empty cartridge com-
partment, an “Error E1: Empty Cartridge” occurs. If priming without a car-
tridge is repeated a third time, an “Error E6: Mechanical Error”occurs.
