In rare cases, the cartridge itself can be the cause of the detected error. Should an
“Error E4: Occlusion”occur again after carrying out the corrective actions described,
the whole system (cartridge, adapter and infusion set) must be changed.
1. Silence and confirm the error by pressing
f
twice.
2. Change the cartridge, adapter and infusion set.
Please refer to section 5.3 “Change the cartridge, adapter
and infusion set” for further information.
3. When finished, put your insulin pump into RUN
(press
d
and
f
).
Info: If the “Error E4: Occlusion” occurs on a regular basis, try the follo-
wing suggestions.
Info: If “Error E4: Occlusion” occurs during bolus delivery: Use the ex-
tended bolus function with a short bolus duration instead of a standard or
scroll bolus, or split your bolus amount into smaller portions and have
them delivered individually.
Info: If “Error E4: Occlusion”occurs during basal rate delivery: Remove or
disconnect your infusion set, rotate the adapter into the insert position and
back into the lock position and set up your insulin pump with a new infu-
sion set or reconnect.
If all these corrective actions do not help and “Error E4: Occlusion” continues to
occur, contact your doctor or health care team for an alternate therapy plan. Contact
your Accu-Chek customer service center for insulin pumps for further assistance.
7.2.4 Error E4: Occlusion
The unique force sensor of your insulin pump continuously measures the pressure
ratios in the system and triggers an “Error E4: Occlusion” if a defined value is ex-
ceeded. The insulin delivery is interrupted and your insulin pump goes into STOP.
Caution: If an “Error E4: Occlusion” occurs, immediately check your blood
glucose level, because insulin delivery may have been interrupted for
several hours. If your blood glucose level is high, take the appropriate
actions according to your health care team’s instructions.
Do the following:
1. Silence and confirm the error by pressing
f
twice.
2. Change the infusion set.
Please refer to section 5.5 “Change the infusion set only”
for further information.
3. When finished, put your insulin pump into RUN
(press
d
and
f
).
If the occlusion was inside the infusion set, your insulin pump delivers insulin again.
However, if the occlusion is inside the adapter, an “Error E4: Occlusion”occurs again
and the adapter and infusion set must be changed.
