5 Agilent E5025 Cryogen Monitor
Description and Operating Principle
The E5025 is a single instrument mounted on top of the
nitrogen probe which monitors the levels of both the liquid
nitrogen and liquid helium cryogens inside the magnet
cryostat.
This manual
describes units
with software
version 6 and
newer.
When the unit is first switched on, it displays an “E5025”
start- up message followed by the software version number. It
then scrolls through the helium and nitrogen level probes
and states whether they are enabled or disabled. Finally it
takes a reading of the cryogen levels and displays the result.
The cryogen display mode displays the level of both nitrogen
and helium in% of remaining refill volume.
Figure 23 The E5025 front panel
The buttons on the front panel have the following functions:
The nitrogen level is shown on the left side of the display
and measures in 5% increments, with 100% full being
displayed as “F”. Once the level reaches the 5% increment,
the nitrogen display flashes to indicate a low level. The
nitrogen probe is read approximately every 5 seconds.
The helium level is shown on the right side of the display.
The monitor measures the immersed length of the probe and
then converts it to a percentage reading, which is displayed.
+ Increments a value.
From the cryogen level display, this button is used
to enter the ‘user’ menu (see “The Top- Level
USER Menu” on page 73). It is also used to
confirm the result or user choice of an action.
- Used to scroll down a menu or to decrement a
