The Top-Level USER Menu
This top- level menu allows you to take manual readings of
the helium level probes or to change to the “fill” mode to
take frequent helium readings during helium filling.
• To get into the USER menu from the cryogen display
mode, press
.
• To scroll down the menu, press
.
• To make a selection, press
after a question.
• Scrolling down the menu eventually cycles back to the
cryogen display mode.
Manually reading the helium probes
From the cryogen display mode, press the button once.
The unit displays “rEAd ?” Press
again to select this
option.
The unit performs helium readings of the probes that are
switched on, displaying “rEAd P1” and “rEAd P2” as
appropriate while it is carrying out the operation. Each
reading takes approximately 15 seconds. Once the operation
is completed, the unit reverts to the cryogen display mode
with the updated readings. If both probes are on, then P1 is
displayed as default (unless set otherwise from the set- up
menu). If only one probe is switched on, then the selected
probe is displayed.
Changing to the Helium Fill mode
From the cryogen display mode, press the button once.
The unit displays “rEAd ?” Press
once to scroll down the
menu to display “FiLL ?”. Press
to select this option. To
confirm, the unit displays “Fill On” for a few seconds, and
performs helium readings before reverting to the cryogen
display mode. In this mode, the helium level probes are read
every 60 seconds. The cryogen display mode now indicates
an “F” after the Helium reading to denote that it is in Fill
mode.
While the unit is set to Helium Fill mode, the helium
consumption increases. It is preferable to revert to normal
readings as soon as the fill is complete. To revert to normal
helium readings (every eight hours), follow the described
procedure again. The unit displays “Fill oFF” for a few
seconds before reverting to the cryogen display mode.
