Application Programs
This chapter contains two application programs that utilize the remote interface. These
examples will help you develop programs for your own application. Chapter 4
“Remote Interface Reference” starting on page 73 lists the syntax for the SCPI
(Standard Commands for Programmable Instruments) commands available to
program the power supply.
The examples in this chapter have been tested on a PC running Windows
®
3.1,
Windows
®
95 or Windows
®
NT 4.0. The examples are written for use over
GPIB (IEEE 488) or RS-232. But the examples for use over the RS-232 interface do
not work with Windows 3.1. These examples require a VISA (Virtual Instrument
Software Architecture) driver for use with your GPIB interface card in your PC. You
should have the “visa.dll” for Windows
®
3.1 or “visa32.dll” for Windows
®
95 or
Windows
®
NT 4.0 in your c:\windows\system directory to have the examples in this
chapter run properly. The examples step through voltages and make corresponding
current readings to characterize a power diode.
