First, ensure the fuel tank is full with fresh fuel and that the oil level is correct, also make sure that the generator is horizontal. Check that the On/Off switch is in the ‘On’ position. Inspect the spark plug for faults and clean or replace it if necessary. Adjust the choke lever to the correct position. Confirm that the fuel shut-off valve is open and that there is no load on the unit during start-up. Ensure the spark plug wire is securely attached. Lastly, old fuel in the carburetor can also cause starting issues; drain the carburetor bowl until fresh fuel runs through. If the fuel from the tank does not pass through the carburetor drain, clean the fuel filter in the bottom of the fuel tap.
