4.2.1 General
The operating button <9> can be used in three different ways:
1. pressing the button once shortly lets you select an option within a certain
operation mode.
2. keeping the operating button <9> pressed changes to different operation
modes in the following sequence:
a. weapon selection mode (selected weapon indicators <6>, <7> and
<8> become green, rest white)
b. wireless mode (all 3 weapon indicators <6>, <7> and <8> become
green)
c. slave mode (the weapon indicator of the weapon selected at the
Master unit is green, the two other indicators are red)
d. remote control mode: all three weapon indicators <6>, <7> and
<8> are blue. This allows you to assign a new remote control to the
FMA03.
e. After that the weapon selection mode will be active again and the
sequence will start again.
3. keeping the operating button <9> pressed and pressing the ON/OFF button
<81> additionally, activates the SETTINGS menu (see 4.3 below)
4.2.2 Selecting the weapon mode
To select the appropriate weapon please proceed as follows:
1. switch on the FMA03 by pressing the ON/OFF button <81>. The FMA03
will be in epee mode (epee indicator <6> = green)
2. press the operating button <9> once to change to foil (foil indicator <7> =
green).
3. press the operating button <9> once again to change to sabre (sabre
indicator <8> = green).
4. each further pressing of the operating button <9> will change the selected
weapon in the following sequence: epee -> foil -> saber -> epee
4.2.3 Selecting the wireless mode
The FMA03 is prepared for use with the wireless scoring machine “Wireless 2000”
made by STM. To operate the FMA03 with the “Wireless 2000” please proceed as
follows:
1. press the operating button <9> and keep it pressed until all three weapon
indicator lamps (<6>, <7> and <8>) become green.
2. release the operating button <9>
4.2.4 Activating Master/Slave mode
Master/Slave means, that a main signalling unit the Master - (FMA02, FMA03,
FMA11 or FMA21) will send its information (score, time, cards, lamps …) to up to 8
other signalling units the Slaves that will indicate the information sent by the
Master on their displays. If the Slave is used back to back with the Master, it has to
be inverted. By default, the FMA03 is always a Master, to make it a Slave, please
proceed as follows:
1. make sure you have the appropriate serial 3-pole cable (for example FMA-
MS20)
2. press the operating button <9> and keep it pressed until two of the weapon
indicator lamps (<6>, <7> and <8>) become red and the third becomes
green. The green indicator lamps shows the weapon selected on the
Master.
3. connect the FMA03 used as Slave with the Master signalling unit. Plug the
appropriate cable into socket <83> or <84> of your FMA03-Slave and into
the respective socket of the compatible Master (this can be a FMA02,
FMA03, FMA11 or FMA21)
