C) SPECIFICS OF OFF-ROAD RIDING
1. Specific conditions of off-road riding require great attention and
certain skills. Start riding in more simple areas and gradually make
the riding more challenging.
2. According to the type of riding you do, we recommend using
additional protection to a helmet and gloves.
3. Don’t ride alone away from urban areas. Even if you travel away
with a partner, inform someone else of your destination.
4. Don’t perform difficult tricks if you are not absolutely confident.
They can lead to a fall and damage to the bike.
5. Always be on the alert. If something goes wrong, help may be
far away.
Off-road riding means riding a route that has no tarmac surface and
has various irregularities in the form of stones, roots, and potholes.
Various types of mountain bikes are suitable for off-road riding,
except road bikes.
ALPINE ELEMENT bikes are not intended for extreme riding and
jumps. When bikes are used other than for their intended purpose
and the bike frame or equipment breaks, no warranty service will be
provided.
D) RIDING IN WET WEATHER
ATTENTION: Visibility, road grip, and braking deteriorate
in wet weather, both for the cyclist and other road users. These
conditions dramatically increase the risk of accidents.
Braking quality and adhesion of wheels to the road reduces greatly
on wet surfaces. As a result, it’s more difficult for you to control
speed and easier to lose control. To be sure that you can brake and
stop in time under these conditions, firstly, you should ride more
slowly, and secondly, you should brake in good time and more
smoothly than in dry weather.
E) RIDING IN THE DARK
Cycling where there is limited visibility is far more hazardous than
cycling during the day. This is primarily because the cyclist
becomes far less visible both to pedestrians and to drivers.
ATTENTION: Cycling without a lighting system and
reflectors at night and in other poor visibility conditions can
lead to injuries or death.
It’s recommended to install retro reflectors on the bicycle, as they
are designed to catch and reflect street light and vehicle headlights,
thus improving your chances of being seen in good time by other
road users.
ATTENTION: Periodically check the condition of reflectors and
their fasteners. Make sure that retro reflectors are clean,
undamaged, correctly orientated and securely fastened. Do not
remove front and rear reflectors, as they are vital components of
your bicycle safety system.
