1.2.3 Connections to the second rear communications port, RP2 (option)
The se
cond rear communications port supports the Courier protocol only. In a similar
manner to the front communications port, connection is made using a 9-pin connector.
Unlike the front port implementation, however, it is possible to choose how the interface is
physically presented on the second rear communications port. Either EIA(RS)232,
EIA(RS)485, or K-Bus may be selected. According to selection, the various connection
possibilities described for the front port and the EIA(RS)485 rear port apply.
1.2.4 Connections to the rear optical fiber port (option)
The MiCOM P54x can ha
ve an optional optical fiber interface in support of the Courier,
DNP3.0 and IEC 60870-5-103 protocols. Where this is used, connection should be made
using either 50/125 µm or 62.5/125 µm multi-mode optical fibers terminated with BFOC/2.5
(ST) connectors.
