Function Description
The Anko Smart Fan is a pedestal fan designed for household use, offering various modes and control options. Its primary function is to circulate air, providing cooling and ventilation. A key feature is its smart capability, allowing control via a smartphone app (TuyaSmart) and integration with smart home devices like Google Home and Amazon Echo. The fan operates on a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
Usage Features
Assembly and Setup:
The fan comes unassembled to minimize packaging waste and is designed for easy assembly and disassembly for cleaning or storage.
- Base and Stand Assembly: Involves attaching the stand post to the base using a Philips Head screwdriver.
- Head to Stand Attachment: The motor assembly is placed on top of the stand post and secured by tightening a locking screw. The height can be adjusted by loosening a locking screw, extending the inner chrome tube, and then retightening.
- Safety Grille and Fan Blade Assembly: This involves removing the rear grille nut, fitting the rear safety grille, placing the fan blade onto the motor spindle (aligning a groove with a T-bar), and securing it with the spinner nut (which tightens anticlockwise). The front grille is then attached by aligning a hook, pressing a plastic band onto the rear grille rim, and securing it with a lever and screw.
Control Options:
The fan can be operated in four ways:
- Fan Control Panel: Located on the fan itself, featuring a knob for On/Off and speed adjustment, and buttons for oscillation, timer, and mode selection.
- Remote Control: A handheld remote with buttons for speed, oscillation, timer, and mode. It requires 2 x AAA alkaline batteries (not included).
- Smartphone App (TuyaSmart): After pairing the fan with the TuyaSmart app on a smartphone, users can control various functions. The app allows turning the fan on/off, adjusting speed via a slider, selecting fan modes (Normal, Nature, Sleep), activating oscillation, and setting an auto-off timer. The app also allows renaming the fan, setting its location, and sharing control with family members.
- Smart Devices (Google Home/Amazon Echo): The fan can be integrated with Google Home and Amazon Echo devices for voice control. Through these devices, users can turn the fan on/off and set the fan speed (1-9). Other functions are not supported via smart devices.
Fan Modes:
The fan offers three distinct modes:
- Normal Mode: The default mode, providing a constant airflow at the selected speed.
- Nature Mode: Simulates natural outdoor winds by creating variable wind patterns, cycling through low, medium, high, and off intervals. The wind pattern varies with the selected fan speed.
- Sleep Mode: Designed for comfortable sleep. If set to medium or high speeds, the fan speed will gradually decrease by one level after approximately 30 minutes, and then again after another 30 minutes, continuing at a low speed until manually turned off. The timer function can be used in this mode for automatic shut-off.
Additional Functions:
- Head Tilt: The fan head can be manually tilted up or down to direct airflow.
- Height Adjustment: The fan's height can be adjusted by loosening and retightening a locking screw on the stand post.
- Timer: An auto-off timer can be set for 1 to 9 hours, allowing the fan to turn off automatically after a specified period. The timer setting is displayed alternately with the fan speed.
- Oscillating (Swing) Function: When activated, the fan head swings from side to side to distribute air across a wider area. This function can be turned on or off via the control panel, remote, or smartphone app. It is important not to force the head to rotate manually.
Wi-Fi Pairing and Reset:
- Pairing: The Wi-Fi indicator light blinks rapidly when ready to pair. The TuyaSmart app guides the user through connecting the fan to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
- Reset: If pairing issues occur or the Wi-Fi network changes, the fan's Wi-Fi can be reset by pressing and holding the knob for 2 seconds until three squeals are heard. This makes the Wi-Fi indicator blink rapidly, ready for re-pairing. A longer press (8 seconds) will completely turn off the fan and its Wi-Fi signal.
Maintenance Features
Care and Cleaning:
- Always ensure the fan is switched off and unplugged from the supply mains before cleaning or removing any guards.
- The motor housing and body assembly should be cleaned with a clean, damp cloth and then wiped dry.
- Do not spray liquids directly onto the fan or submerge it in water or any other liquid.
- Avoid using flammable liquids, harsh chemicals, abrasive creams, steel wool, or scouring pads for cleaning, as these can damage the appliance.
Storage:
- Before storing, switch off and unplug the fan.
- Coil the power cable loosely, avoiding kinks or tight pulling.
- Store the fan in a cool, dry location to prevent damage and prolong its lifespan.
Troubleshooting:
The manual includes a troubleshooting section to address common issues such as:
- Fan not switching on: Check power point and plug connection.
- Wi-Fi indicator issues: Instructions for re-enabling Wi-Fi or re-pairing.
- Fan turning on/off automatically: Check for active auto-on/off timers set via the app, remote, or control panel.
- Network connection issues: Confirm the use of a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
- Limited smart device control: Reminds users that Google Home/Amazon Echo only support on/off and speed control.
- Remote control not functioning: Check battery installation, condition, and contacts.
