Why is my Arris Gateway internet so slow?
    • V
      Valerie ZimmermanJul 26, 2025
If your Arris Gateway's internet connection is slow, it could be due to the website's popularity affecting its ability to handle requests. If other sites load quickly, wait a few minutes and try again. Also, heavy usage during peak hours or other communications on the LAN, including interference with wireless connections, might slow down your connection.

What to do if my Arris Touchstone DG860 is not getting on the internet?
    • T
      Tina ThompsonJul 31, 2025
If you are unable to get on the internet with your Arris Gateway, ensure the Power and Online lights on the front panel are on. Check that all cable connections are tight and that the coax cable isn't pinched, kinked, or sharply bent, as this can cause connection issues. If splitters are in use between the Gateway and the CATV outlet, remove them and connect the Gateway directly to the outlet. It may take over 30 minutes to establish a connection the first time you power up your Data Gateway, especially when many people are online. If the Power light blinks for more than 30 minutes, call your cable company for assistance. Always leave your Data Gateway plugged into AC power and connected to the cable system.

Why does my Arris Touchstone DG860 Gateway wireless internet keep disconnecting?
    • T
      Timothy MillerAug 6, 2025
If your Arris Gateway wireless internet connection frequently stops working, it's often due to interference, commonly from 2.4GHz 'remote' telephones or microwave ovens. If possible, remove the source of interference. Alternatively, try using a different channel or setting Protected Mode on your Gateway.

If you're not getting on the internet via Ethernet with your Arris Gateway, ensure the hub is turned on if you're using one. Verify you're using the correct Ethernet cable: the supplied cable for direct computer connection and a cross-over cable for hub connection. You can also press the Reset button on the back of the Gateway. A misconfiguration could lock out all access to the Data Gateway router. If you think this has happened, see Resetting the Router to Factory Defaults.

      Jose RoblesAug 15, 2025
If you're unable to get on the internet wirelessly with your Arris Gateway, check that the WiFi light is on. Ensure your connection utility discovers your wireless LAN. If “Broadcast SSID” is off, manually enter your wireless LAN name in the connection utility. Try changing your security mode to “WEP” or “disabled,” but if using “disabled,” re-enable another security mode once the problem is found. A misconfiguration could lock out all access to the Data Gateway router. If you think this has happened, see Resetting the Router to Factory Defaults.

If the Power light on your Arris Gateway is off, check that the power cord is firmly plugged in at both ends. If plugged into a power strip, ensure the strip is switched on. Avoid using an outlet controlled by a wall switch, if possible. Also, check the fuse or circuit breaker panel.
