Each
mailbox
is
preprogrammed
with
a
4-digit
default
security
code
that
must
be
entered
whenever
you
call
in
re-
motely
to
retrieve
your
messages
or
to
program
mailbox
functions.
This
feature
.
cannot
be
turned
off.
The
default
code
for
each
mail-
box
is
the
four
repeated
digits
of
that
numbered
box.
For
exam-
ple,
the
default
code
for
mailbox
three
is
3-3-3-3.
You
can
also
activate
a
security
code
for
each
mailbox
to
protect
your
mail-
box
locally.
The
default
codes
are
the
same
as
for
remote
access,
that
is,
the
four
repeated
digits
of
mailbox
number.
If
the
security
code
is
enabled
for
mail-
boxes
1,
2,
3,
4,
5,
or
6,
you
will
need
to
enter
the
security
code
whenever
you
want
to:

Retrieve
your
messages.
e
Change
your
mailbox
greeting.
e
Change
your
security
code.
¢
Record
a
timed
memo.
e
Enter
a
call
forward
number.
eo
Enter
a
pager
or
urgent
notify
number.
Activating
a
security
code
for
local
ac-
cess
will
not
interfere
with
a
caller's
abil-
ity
to
leave
a
message.
If
you
activate
a
security
code
for
an-
nouncement
mailboxes
7,
8,
or
9,
it
will
be
necessary
for
a
caller
to
enter
the
code
in
order
to
hear
the
an-
nouncement.
This
feature
makes
it
possi-
ble
to
leave
private
outbound
messages
for
callers
knowing
the
code.
Follow the
instructions
below
to
acti-
vate
or
change
security
codes.
Instructions
are
also
provided
to
turn
a
security
code
off,
or
to
reset
to
the
de-
fault
security
code should
you
forget
the
code.
Activate
or
Change
a
Security
Code
1. Press
SELECT
MAILBOX
and
then
press
the
button
marked
SECURITY
CODE.
You
will
hear:
“Security
code.
To
turn
security
code
on,
press
1.
To
enter
new
se-
curity
number,
press
3.
To
repeat
the
menu,
press
0.
To
exit
from
menu,
press
#.”
Follow
the
voice
and
visual
prompts.
You
may
want to
write
down
your
four
digit
code
and
keep
it
in
a
safe
place.
