SAFETY RULES
The actual opening of a gate may create dangerous situations for people, goods and vehicles in the vicinity
that by nature, cannot always be avoided by design.
The possible hazards depend on the state of the gate, the manner in which it is used and the installation site.
After having checked that the gate to be motorised complies with the requirements given in this chapter and
before beginning the installation, a hazard analysis of the installation must be conducted in order to eliminate
all dangerous situations or to indicate them if they cannot be eliminated.
1 - ELIMINATING HAZARDS
On the primary edge
There is a risk of crushing between the gate’s post and primary edge when it closes. To reduce this risk, the
motor drive has an obstacle detector. If the motor needs to force more than it is authorised (by adjusting a
threshold of sensitivity to effort), the motor drive will stop of its own accord and release the pressure against
the obstacle (person or vehicle). It is also possible to install the photocells to detect a person or vehicle moving
when the gate is closing.

On the secondary edge
Depending on your installation, there may be risks of impact or crushing in the gate’s clearance zone. In this
case, you must remove these risks, by screening off the clearance zone, or by using photocells.
