COMPRESSOR:|EXTERNAL BLUETOOTH DEVICE
OXYGEN 1000 & OXYGEN 2000 · User Manual · ENG
COMPRESSOR and LIMITER will only act on the considered values, the once higher than the currently set
EXPANDER THRESHOLD.
COMPRESSOR
The COMPRESSOR reduces the sound DYNAMIC RANGE. The COMPRESSOR THRESHOLD defines a
maximum dB value at which all the considered signal must be kept down and compressed. The signal
that exceeds this threshold must be reduced in accordance with the COMPRESSOR RATIO. The speed of
action of this reduction is not immediate, but is adjustable by the COMPRESSOR RATIO and by ATTACK
SPEED, RELEASE SPEED and HOLD TIME. Its purpose is allowing you to pump up the sound, reducing its
general dynamics and avoiding undesidered picks.
The suggested value for the COMPRESSOR THRESHOLD is between -6 dB < C. THRESHOLD < -2 dB.
- The signal lower than this value will be kept inhaltered.
- The signal higher than will be reduced according to the following COMPRESSOR RATIO settings:
When the signal becomes louder than the threshold, the compressor reduces the gain based on the
ratio setting. Without getting too mathematical, the COMPRESSOR RATIO determines how much
level reduction is applied to a signal after it crosses the threshold.
With a ratio of 2:1, for every 2 dB above the threshold, the compressor only allows 1 dB more above
the set threshold. With a ratio of 4:1, for every 4 dB above the threshold, the compressor only allows
1dB more above the set threshold. With a ratio of 10:1, for every 10 dB above the threshold, the
compressor only allows 1 dB more above the set threshold.
LIMITER
The LIMITER THRESHOLD acts as a fast signal reduction. The action of the LIMITER is faster, harder and
immediate, unlike the slower and softer action of the compressor. The suggested value for the LIMITER
THRESHOLD is 6 dB.
- The signal lower than this value will be kept inhaltered.
- The signal higher than this value will be cut down to the LIMITER THRESHOLD with a real time level
reduction.
