General Settings
You can choose enable or disable Firewall. If you disable this function, you will not able to add lter
rules by yourself in the Packet Filter. If you enable this function using preset lter rules, you are
allowed to modify the packet lter rules as required. The Packet Filter is used to lter packets based-
on Applications (Port) or IP addresses.
There are 4 options to choose when you enable Firewall:
• All blocked/User-dened: no pre-dened port or address lter rules by default, meaning
that all inbound (Internet to LAN) and outbound (LAN to Internet) packets will be blocked. Us-
ers have to add their own lter rules for further access to the Internet.
• High/Medium/Low security level: the predened port lter rules for High, Medium and Low
security are displayed in Port Filters of the Packet Filter.
Select either High, Medium or Low security level to enable Firewall. The only difference between
these three security levels is the preset port lter rules in the Packet Filter. Firewall functionality is
the same for all levels; it is only the list of preset port lters that changes between each setting. For
more detailed on level of preset port lter information, refer to Table 1: Predened Port Filter.
Note: The changes or added custom lters on a previous security level will be remembered
whenever newer security level is selected. There is no need to recongure all settings again
if switching back to the previous level.
The “Block WAN Request” is a stand-alone function and is not affected by whether security is
enabled or disabled. Mostly this is for preventing any scan tools from the hacker from WAN site.
