Connecting a single source device
Use this type of connection only if you use a single
audio/video source device. Make the highest-quality
audio connection your device can support.
Using optical cable for best audio quality
Optical cable provides digital audio performance.
1. Insert one end of the supplied optical cable into the
Optical Audio Out connector on your device. (This
audio connector may be marked “Digital Audio.”)
2. Insert the other end of the cable into the OPTICAL IN
connector on the interface module.
Device settings for digital audio
When connecting your device using the optical cable,
you may need to change settings on the device for the
correct output.
In the audio menu for each device, make these
adjustments as needed.
1. For the output format, choose Dolby Digital 5.1,
PCM 2.0, or Bitstream.
Dolby Digital offers the highest quality and PCM
provides the next best.
2. Make sure the audio sample rate setting is no
higher than 48kHz.
3. Make sure the correct digital audio output on the
source device is selected.
For details, refer to the owner’s manual provided
with your device.
