Important 
This equipment is not designed for making emergency 
phone calls when the power fails. Alternative 
arrangements should be made for access to  
emergency services. 
This product is intended for connection to analogue 
public switched telephone networks and private 
switchboards in the United Kingdom. 
Replacing the handset batteries 
After a time, you might find that the handset batteries 
run out of charge more quickly. This is a standard sign 
of wear and the batteries will need replacing. 
1. Unscrew and remove the belt clip and battery 
compartment cover.
2. Gently ease the battery out. Replace with a new  
Li-ion 3.7V 550mAh rechargeable battery.
3.  Screw the battery compartment cover and belt clip 
back on securely. 
Caution
Don’t immerse battery in water, throw it into a fire or 
dispose with ordinary domestic refuse. BT accepts no 
responsibility for damage caused to your BT Elements 
1K by using any other type of battery. There is a risk of 
explosion if an incorrect battery is fitted.
Safety information 
•  Only use the power supply suitable for the BT Elements 
1K. Using an unauthorised power supply will invalidate 
your guarantee and may damage the phone. The item
  code for the base mains power supply is 066270 . If 
you’ve bought a multiple pack, the item code for the 
charger mains power supply is 066270. 
•  Use only the approved rechargeable battery supplied. 
Spare rechargeable battery are available from the BT 
Elements 1K Helpline on 0800 145 6789*. 
•  Don’t open the handset (except to replace the 
handset battery) or the base. This could expose you 
to high voltages or other risks. Contact the Helpline 
on 0800 145 6789* for all repairs. 
•  If the keypad is locked, it is still possible to make calls 
to 999 and 112 emergency numbers by dialling the 
number then pressing 
.
•  Radio signal transmitted between the handset and 
base may cause interference to hearing aids. 
•  It is recommended that advice from a qualified 
expert be sought before using this product in 
the vicinity of emergency/intensive care medical 
equipment. 
•  It is recommended that if you have a pacemaker 
fitted you check with a medical expert before using 
this product. 
•  Your product may interfere with other electrical 
equipment, e.g. TV and radio sets, clock/alarms and 
computers if placed too close.
