Why does the process value vary on my Burkert Controller?
    • C
      cmejiaAug 16, 2025
The process value may vary due to several reasons. Ensure a proper FE connection by connecting it to the earthing point with the shortest wires possible (minimum 2.5 mm²). If the controller is continuously correcting disturbances in an unstable pressure supply, install a suitable pressure regulator upstream. High residual ripple of the supply voltage may also be the cause, so select a suitable voltage source.

Why does my Burkert Controller tend to oscillate?
    • A
      Adrian TrujilloAug 19, 2025
The Burkert Controller might be oscillating because the operating pressure is much higher than when the last Autotune was executed; in this case, execute an Autotune to adapt to the operating conditions. The control parameters might not correspond to the section behavior, so adapt the control dynamics with the PC software MassFlowCommunicator. Also, if a medium is being used other than that intended on calibration, return the device to the manufacturer for recalibration for the operating medium. Finally, the residual ripple of the supply voltage might be too high, so select a suitable voltage source.

What to do if the "ERROR" LED flashes on Burkert Controller?
    • L
      leenielsenAug 22, 2025
If the "ERROR" LED flashes on your Burkert Controller, it could be due to a few reasons. The residual ripple of the supply voltage might be too high, so select a suitable voltage source (not industrial DC). Alternatively, there could be a serious error, such as sensor breakage or a faulty internal voltage supply, in which case you should send the device to the manufacturer for repair.

What does it mean when the "ERROR" LED lights up on Burkert Controller?
    • K
      Kimberly MillerAug 26, 2025
If the "ERROR" LED lights up on your Burkert Controller, a less serious error has occurred. This could be because the last Autotune was not completed successfully, or a fault at an LED was detected. Try repeating the Autotune or resetting the error. With errors at LED or binary output, limited operation is possible.

How to fix a Burkert Controller when the "POWER" LED does not light?
    • J
      jquinnAug 28, 2025
If the "POWER" LED does not light on your Burkert Controller, it is likely due to no electrical supply. Check the electrical connections to resolve this.

Why does the "POWER" LED on my Burkert Controller extinguish periodically?
    • J
      Jennifer DayAug 31, 2025
If the "POWER" LED extinguishes periodically on your Burkert Controller, it could be due to a few reasons. The voltage supply might be collapsing periodically, causing the device to reset; in this case, select a power supply with adequate power. Alternatively, the loss on the connecting line might be too high, so increase the cable cross-section. You may also need to decrease the cable length.

What does it mean when the "LIMIT (y)" LED lights on Burkert Controller?
    • T
      Tina LeonSep 3, 2025
If you have a default configuration and the "LIMIT (y)" LED lights up on your Burkert MFC, the correcting variable of valve has reached almost 100 % and cannot correct to setpoint. Increase the supply pressure. Also, check and lower the piping resistance if necessary. Finally, check system dimensioning.

Why does my Burkert Controller still show a small flow when the setpoint value w = 0?
    • J
      james85Sep 6, 2025
When the setpoint value w = 0, valve closed, no flow; but process value output shows a small flow, it could be because the operating pressure is significantly higher than that used for calibration, which increases intrinsic convection (only with 8716 and 8626). Execute an Autotune to adapt to the operating conditions. The incorrect installation position might increase intrinsic convection (only with 8716 and 8626), so install the MFC in the position calibrated or execute an Autotune to adapt to the operating conditions. Also, if a medium is being used other than that intended on calibration, return the device to the manufacturer for recalibration for the operating medium.

Why is there no flow present in my Burkert Controller?
    • D
      Douglas LeeSep 9, 2025
If there is no flow present in your Burkert Controller, it could be due to the setpoint being within the zero-point switch-off. Increase the setpoint to > 2 % of nominal flow. Another reason could be a different operating mode, so check the operating mode.

Why is there still flow after a few seconds when the setpoint value w = 0 on my Burkert Controller?
    • P
      Phillip ReidSep 12, 2025
If the setpoint value w = 0 and flow is still present after a few seconds, it is because the operating pressure is above the leak-tight pressure of the proportional valve. Lower the operating pressure to resolve this.
