Wireless Flash Shooting:
Optical Transmission
This chapter describes wireless flash shooting using
optical transmission.
For the accessories required for optical wireless
transmission, see the system map (p.104).
When the camera’s shooting mode is set to a fully automatic
mode or an Image Zone mode, the operations in this chapter
are not available. Set the camera’s shooting mode to V/X/
W/q/5 (Creative Zone mode).
Wireless flash shooting using optical transmission is available
with both Speedlite 600EX-RT and Speedlite 600EX.
The 600EX-RT/600EX attached to the camera is called the
master unit, and a 600EX-RT/600EX that is wirelessly
controlled is called the slave unit.
You can also wirelessly control the 600EX-RT/600EX set as
the slave unit with an EOS digital camera equipped with a
master function, and with the Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2
(sold separately). For details on setting the master unit
functions, see the instructions of the camera or transmitter.
