124 SAFETY FIRST Edition 1 – December 2019
MSA G1 Electronic Breathing Apparatus
Step Description Illustration
3 After 10 minutes thoroughly rinse the mask
inside and out with clean, fresh running
water.
Clean and rinse the exhalation valve assembly by flushing it with clean,
running water from a tap. If running water is not available, soak and rinse
the facemask in clean water and agitate thoroughly to ensure the water can
rinse the exhalation valve assembly.
Replace the water for each mask.
4 Drain the facemask of water.
Vigorously shake it to displace excess
moisture, particularly from around the
exhalation valve.
Gentle flexing of the facemask rubber can aid
in draining.
Moisture can also be drawn from the
facemask with a soft lint-free cloth.
5 Check that the nose cup is securely fitted,
ensuring the correct orientation.
The nose cup is fitted correctly when:
it is flush with the speech diaphragm and
has a good seal at 360°;
the inhalation valve is free to move and
operate correctly;
the nose cup notch aligns with the visor
marker;
the yellow markers are present.
